An Investigation into Principals’ Instructional Leadership and Lecturers’ Organizational Commitment Within the Community Colleges in Jamaica

The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine the relationship between lecturers’ ratings principals' instructional leadership and lecturers' views their organizational commitment (OC) within community colleges in Jamaica. Quantitative data were collected using a questionnaire that adopted Principal Instructional Management Rating Scale Three-Component Model Organizational Commitment. A total 170 lecturers participated survey, which used population sampling, purposive sampling technique. Social Exchange Theory, Commitment Model, Leadership provided theoretical frameworks for study. Results Pearson Product Moment Correlation showed an overall low but positive association principals’ commitment. Defining college mission positively correlated with affective normative negatively continuance Multiple Regression Analysis indicated defining mission, managing programs, creating climate predicted continuous However, only predictor concluded is necessary associated
